I was privileged to spend Saturday afternoon with a group of radiant women during our Goal Setting Party. Having goals is a start, but ultimately we want to REACH them! Here are my five tips for seeing your goals through.
1. Have goals with you at all times.
If goals are only floating in your head and not written down, consider them a good idea and not really goals. Get them written down and keep them with you! Some people carry a small notebook or journal, but the one thing I always have with me…my phone. Record your goals in your phone so no matter where you are, they’re on you!
2. Light up inside.
Believe it or not, our brains are smart! J They learn what to expect next, and because our brain expects something will happen a certain way, we often achieve exactly what we anticipate. That’s why it’s so important to have positive thoughts and believe in yourself. Read our ...

Two years ago my coach introduced meditation into my life. I’ll admit, I was hesitant. Well let’s be real, I thought she was crazy and there was no way I would be doing THAT! When I heard “meditation” I immediately pictured long-haired, pot smoking, flower bearing hippies sitting cross legged in a grassy meadow! Thank goodness I ignored this visual and instead listened and began in the process. I'm certainly not perfect but I've been rather consistent in my practice so I'd like to share three ways in which I enjoy meditating.
1. Guided Meditation
Guided meditation can be a great way for a newbie to begin practicing. Find a recorded meditation, there are plenty of great ones on YouTube, in which someone is guiding you through the session. I find these are extremely helpful when I have a specific goal in mind, such as falling asleep easily, achieving weight loss or for healing.

Back-to-School season is here and I enjoy reflecting on my glory days as a sorority girl! I’m a proud Gamma Phi Beta from California State
University, Fullerton and my years in sorority were filled with valuable lessons that I incorporated into my life as a young woman. And though these lessons weren’t created by Gamma Phi Beta, they were consistently weaved into who we were and what we stood for. As I’m now approaching forty I realize many of these lessons are still with my today, five of which I’ll never forget!
1. Founded upon a rock
Originating from the Bible, Gamma Phi Beta chose this as its opening motto. One of the founders wrote, “… the rock is the firmest and most enduring substance, able to withstand the ravages of time, and offering the strongest protection…” In those college years my “rock” was made up of education, sorority sisters and family. These offered a fo ...
While chatting and laughing with my sister-in-law at a family wedding this past weekend, my nine year-old son gently tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Excuse me mommy, I will dance with you tonight.” As with most moms of boys would react, my heart absolutely melted!
This summer has been filled with an overwhelming amount of activities, one of which was my stepson's 21st birthday party held at our house a couple weeks prior to the wedding. The kids, including my son, danced the night away at the party. But when I asked if I could join, he immediately said, “No!” with a look of pure embarrassment on his face. So to have my ever-so polite young man interrupt my conversation to share that he would dance me with this night at the wedding, it brought tears to my eyes and an enormous smile to my face.
That night was one of the best I’ve experienced with my family. Singing, twirling and hip shaking on the dance floor with my husband, son and daughter ar ...
